Archaeological tour

 

The tour program includes:
Day 1: Meeting at the airport, transfer to the hotel. Excursion through Yerevan old streets and
sights. Visit to the Historical Museum of Armenia. The museum represents all the path that
Armenia has passed since ancient times to our days. Visit to the archaeological museum of
Erebuni, where the so called "passport" of Yerevan has been preserved. Visit to the fortress of
Erebuni where you can see the ruins of the ancient city and the castle. The ancient settlement
of Shengavit is one of the most famous archaeological sites of the early Bronze Age. Dinner is
planned at one of Yerevan restaurants.
Day 2: Oshakan. Visit to the tombs on the left bank of the Kasakh River, then a group of
monuments from different eras, discovered on the "Didi Kond" hill in the central part of the
village. Visit to the mausoleum of Mesrop Mashtots, the creator of the Armenian alphabet. From
here you will go to the medieval fortified city of Amberd. Today, only the ruins of Amberd Castle,
the fortress wall, the church and the remains of some structures are preserved. Visit to the
pagan temple of Garni, where you can see the royal bathhouse, the ruins of the 7th century
church and the fence ruins.
Day 3: Visit to the ancient capital of Armenia, Dvin, from which the ruins of the Catholicosate
and the Cathedral are preserved. Then we will have a trip to one of the other former capitals of
Armenia, Artashat, on one of the 11 hills of which the monastery complex of Khor Virap is
situated.
Day 4: Visit to the monastery complex of Noravanq, one of the medieval Armenian architecture
"jewels", built in the 13-14th centuries. Orbelyan princes are buried here. Visit to the cave
number 1 in the village of Areni.
In this cave the most ancient shoes, as well as the most ancient wine-making complex in the
world were found. Visit to the cave of Mozrov. In Armenia, this is the third largest (about 260 m)
cave, rich in geological formations. Return to Yerevan.
Day 5: Trip to Syunik region - Qarahunj and the complex of Zorats Karer, then ancient cave
town of Khndzoresk. In order to get there, it is necessary to pass along the 160-meter cable
bridge, which is the symbol of Khndzoresk. The bridge connects the old and new Khndzoresk.
In the gorge the church of St. Tadevos is located, in the courtyard of the church one of the
outstanding representatives of the Armenian national liberation struggle Mkhitar Sparapet is
buried.
Day 6: Sightseeing tour around Yerevan. Visit to Vernissage, then sweets market. Transfer to
the airport.
