May holidays in Armenia in 2018

 

May is a victorious month for the Armenian people. In May, several international and
primordially Armenian holidays are celebrated with great scope.
May 1 - International Day of Workers' Solidarity, May 9 - Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic
War, Day of Shushi Liberation and the creation of the Defense Army of Nagorno-Karabakh, May
28 marks the First Republic of Armenia proclamation Day. By the way, this year our country will
celebrate the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia concerning which large
celebrations at state level are expected.
The tour program includes:
Day 1: Meeting at the airport, transfer to the hotel. Visit to one of the most significant Armenian
architectural monuments - the temple of Zvartnots, the churches of St. Hripsime, St. Shoghakat
and St. Gayane, the Cathedral in Echmiadzin, the museum. Lunch at one of the local
restaurants. Visit to the Sardarapat memorial, the Museum of the History of Armenian
Ethnography and the Liberation Struggle. Return to Yerevan.
Day 2: The monastery complex of Khor Virap. Stop on the way to Noravank at the cave of Areni,
in which the world's most ancient footwear and winery were found. Visit to the monastery
complex of Noravank. Tatev monastery, the longest ropeway in the world "Wings of Tatev", trip
to the city of Goris. Dinner and overnight stay in Goris.
Day 3: One of the most ancient astronomical observatories in the world - Qarahunj or Zorats
Qarer. Visit to Noratus - the largest khachkars cemetery in the world. Lake Sevan. Lunch in one
of the coastal regions, visit to Sevanavank and Hayravank. Visit to the city of Tsaghkadzor,
overnight stay.
Day 4: Medieval monastery complex of Geghard. Pagan temple of Garni, natural monument
"Symphony of stones", Khosrov reserve, lunch in the house of one of the hospitable local
residents. Return to Yerevan.
Day 5: Walk around Yerevan, visit to the Cascade Complex, Mother Armenia memorial,
National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, Northern Avenue, Republic Square, Historical
Museum of Armenia, National Gallery of Armenia.
Day 6: Memorial complex dedicated to the Armenian alphabet, medieval fortified city of
Amberd. Return to Yerevan. Matenadaran. Tsitsernakaberd Memorial.
Day 7: Yerevan Sweets Market, Vernissage. Transfer to the airport.
