Ecotourism: Getik Valley

 

Between the cities of Chambarak and Dilijan there is one of the most unique and secluded
corners of Armenia located, called the Valley of Getik. This is an ideal place to enjoy a rural
holiday. The Getik Valley has an extraordinary beauty and charm: dense lush forests, rocks,
mountain streams and small rivers will raise admiration even among the most demanding
tourists. If you wish, you can make cheese, honey, visit the local carpet-weaving plant, merging
into rural everyday life for a while.
The tour program includes:
Day 1: Yerevan-Getik- Chatindar Waterfall-Karmir YEghtsi-Getik
08:00 - Departure from Yerevan.
10:00 - Arrival to the village of Getik. Participation in the process of making cheese and other
Armenian national dishes with the help of specialists.
12:00 - Participation in the process of making honey with beekeeper, then tasting it.
13:30 - A hike to the Old Getik church, located in the depths of the forest, representing a group
of monuments dating to the 9-12th centuries that were popularly named Karmir Eghtsi (Red
Church) because they were built of pink stone.
14:30 - A hike from Karmir Eghtsi to the Chatindar waterfall surrounded by high rocks. The
waterfall is situated in the village of Martuni and has a height of about 10 meters. After lunch
and rest in the nature, return to the village of Getik.
19:00 - Dinner with several traditional dishes in the village Getik, overnight stay in the guest
house.
Day 2: Carpet weaving factory of Getik - Yerevan
08:30 - Breakfast.
10:30 - Visit to the carpet weaving factory of Getik. Familiarization with the history of the
Armenian carpet weaving, its achievements, participation in the spinning process of thread and
wool, as well as learning the technique of knitting carpets.
14:00 - Lunch in the nature.
17:30 - Excursion in the forest of Getik.
19:00 - Dinner.
22:00 - Return to Yerevan.
