Trip to Khor Virap and Noravanq

 

The tour program includes:
9:00 - Departure from Yerevan.
10:00 - Arrival in Khor Virap, located at the foot of Biblical Ararat, an ancient monastery complex
near the border with Turkey. It is also one of the Christian symbols of Armenia.
12:00 - Visit to the Cave 1 in Areni, known as the Cave of Birds. In 2010, the cave, as a result of
archaeological excavations, found the most ancient shoes in the world (about 5000 years old),
and a year later, in 2011, a winery was discovered in the same cave. The cave of Mozrov has a
length of 260 meters and is the second large cave in Armenia. It is rich in various natural
formations.
13:00 - Visit to the Areni winery.
15:00 - Visit to the monastery complex of Noravanq. It was built in the 13-14th centuries and is
considered one of the priceless treasures of Armenian medieval architecture. Noravanq is
included in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
16:00 - Lunch at one of Areni's guest houses or local wood-built restaurants.
20:00 - Return to Yerevan.
