Yerevan

The capital of Armenia - Yerevan, founded in 782 BC, is one of the most ancient cities in the
world. It is 29 years older than Rome. The ruins of Erebuni, the ancient city of Urartu state, are
still preserved on the Arin-Berd hill in Yerevan.
Yerevan is a city of contrasts: ancient historical monuments and modern buildings gracefully
harmonize in the modern style here. Yerevan is also called "pink city", since most of its buildings
are built of pink volcanic tuff.
The heart of Yerevan - the Republic Square, is especially worth describing. The square has an
oval shape. There are the Government building, the Historical Museum, the Central Post Office
of the RA, hotels and other buildings, located around the square. There are also a lot of summer
cafes and snack bars around the square where you can have a snack. The Republic Square is
famous for its "singing fountains", shimmering with different colors in the evenings. Such a
spectacle cannot leave anyone indifferent. In the square, as elsewhere in Yerevan, there are
drinking fountains with the purest mountain water.
Next to the square the Vernissage is located, where you can simply admire the handmade
products by the Armenian masters, as well as buy souvenirs and jewelry. Near the Opera and
Ballet Theater named after Alexander Spendiarian you can admire the magnificent "Swan
Lake". There are a lot of museums, cinemas, theaters, parks and squares in the Armenian
capital.
Only in Yerevan you can see the largest and the smallest, the thinnest and the thickest books in
the world and all of them are preserved in the Museum-Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, called
Matenadaran.
In inexpensive restaurants and snack bars, guests of the capital can try both traditional
Armenian national dishes and cuisine of different nations of the world.
Visiting Yerevan and not seeing the Cognac Factory, founded in 1887, means you will never
know the real taste of Armenia. Here, every tourist can taste this old and soft Armenian drink,
made from the grapes saturated with southern sun.
Yerevan, by right, is considered one of the safest cities in the world: evening and even night
walks around the city streets will give you only pleasant emotions. There are many pubs and
jazz clubs in the city, where you can relax and listen to pleasant music after a difficult and tiring
day.
Come to Yerevan and see the hospitality and boundless love of the Armenian capital towards its
guests.
